The work of Antonio Espinosa moves in two main lines. One line is dedicated to monochrome landscapes with critical impact on marine issues, and deals with the sea as a real or virtual boundary of his island birthplace being surrounded by sea and isolating its borders. It is an intimate landscape dreamed and recreated by the artist himself from his visions and reconstructions of images that refer to deceptively recognizable sites. The other aspect of his work takes place within a social art critique through the analysis of history and its various aspects. He has dabbled in sculpture, installation, watercolor, and photography, in addition to a series of fences which evolved into a recognizable iconography associated with Cuban revolutionary heroes and with the word as an important interpretative element.
